Cantina for the ‘Con a Success

The 4th Annual Rubicon Trail Foundation (RTF) Cantina for the ‘Con was held over the Labor Day weekend and was a great success on many levels. We had a new record of over $20,000.00 in raffle prizes and raised $20,083.00 for RTF! We can’t thank our vendors and users enough for their generous support.

This year’s event saw the cooperation of several clubs working together to support the Rubicon. Here’s a list of clubs and the duties they shared:

Club Dedicates Superstition Kiosk

Superstition Mountains Off Highway Vehicle Area Kiosk Dedication

El Centro CA (October 25, 2008):  At a Dedication Ceremony held in the Superstition Mountains OHVA, the San Diego 4 Wheelers turned over a new Information Kiosk to the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). The four wheel drive club replaced the aging BLM Kiosk with funds provided in a grant from BF Goodrich Tires.

In May 2008, BF Goodrich Tires honored Superstition by naming it as one of the “Outstanding Trails 2008” in recognition of the area and the conservation work done by the San Diego 4 Wheelers.

Club President Richard Jackson presented the Kiosk to Dallas Meeks of the BLM on behalf of the Club and BF Goodrich Tires. Mr. Jackson said “This Kiosk represents the years of dedication by the San Diego 4 Wheelers to preserving the Outstanding Trails in the Superstition Mountains”.

Sweepstakes program needs YOU!

Win-A-Jeep 2012 on RTI ramp

One of our largest fundraisers of the year is our program called the Sweepstakes Vehicle, or Win-A-Jeep. Each February we give it away during our annual meeting/convention. This year we will be giving away a 2011 4-door Mango Tango Rubicon to a lucky ticket buyer.

Next year's vehicle is already in the works, but we need your help. The program is currently being managed by a few board members and others. To be a real success though, we need a chairman who can procure donations, oversee the build, transport it to shows, publicity and all of the other little details. One volunteer has stepped forward, and we would like to see a few more people step up as well. If you think you have what it takes to make this worthy program a success, please contact Association President Mark Cave using this link: http://cal4wheel.com/board-member-contacts/1-mark-cave

Johnson Valley King of the Hammers volunteers needed

One of our last showings of the 2012 Sweepstakes Vehicle will be at the King of the Hammers event that runs from February 3-11 in Johnson Valley. They have donated a booth to us so that we can sell tickets for Win-A-Jeep at the event, but we need salespeople. If you can help on one or all of the days, please contact Mark using the link above. Dry camping is available at the event and you'll be able to check out the races and the vendor tents while you are there.
