Could be the vent line or the canister being restricted. That would create back-pressure in tank that could blow fuel at the nozzle due to "burping". What year is your Sporty? The post-1997 models have the canister in the rear of the vehicle (not sure which year that change started). And I've heard a few problems with them clogging with dirt/mud over time. That's all I can think of, at the moment...
