Thanks I appreciate it. I think I'm gonna do a rebuild. my block is ok, need new crank. Rock auto is gonna love me. Also I live right across a river from Michigan so I get my rock auto sent there and pick it up. The crank is the only pricey part when you add in the core charge.

I'm still puzzled how it happened though. no teeth on the balance chain sprocket on the crank but both balance shafts and oil pump spin. and all my bearings are scrubbed. How did I lose teeth? It seemed to be up snug on the adjuster. Not that it matters much now lol.

any suggestions on the rebuild are helpful. ie copper head gasket and ARP studs etc.
