Howdy Chris - I haven't had any clearance issues with the twin tube shocks. But they are a tight fit in the lower mounting bracket. If I recall correctly, the shocks have an internal stop to keep them from over-extending. Here's a link to the original thread with more detail on the shocks and their fitment on the Sporty. I think that may help answer some of your questions...
