WOW! an internet translator-how come no one ever thought of such an innovative gizmo! what will they invent next? a social web? they should call it "facebook"....
come on man.....in case you havent noticed their email isnt even active. and when you call the number that they have listed you get some korean guy screaming "YES!!! DIIFERENTIAL LOCK SPORATGE!! YES!!GOOD LOCK TRACKFINDER!!! DIFF LOCK!!!"- that is about it.
you need to establish a shipment contact. my diff lock will be herer in 2-3 weeks- lets see if all goes according to plan. if it does- we will try to establish a contact on your side of the ocean.

great news! just got a letter from customs asking me to release something described as "heavy duty auto parts" - from korea!!!!

im really busy at work- so i wont be able to do it the next few days- but if i waited for it almost a month- a few more days wont matter.

as soon as i will pick up the package- i will install the locker- and take pictures of the process.

in the meantime- here is a clip demonstrating the difference (not a very good one- but watch from 5:00 minutes wherer they show the sporty with and without difflock).

first of all- the trackfinder site is easy to find- but they dont reply to emails- simply call the number.

second - got some bad news- like i said- my diff lock has arrived yesterday- and i was like a kid on chrismas morning (hope im right about the expression....u know, israel...we have different hollidays and the food aint that good), so i took a day off- got my package from customs (looks great!!! didnt come with instructions though. lucky i have a friend who kept his instructions from when he bought his in korea in 2002) and headed straight to my local kia mechanic, who took my diff apart....and told me that im f$#%ed. the reason is that over here the sporty was only sold with a limited slip diff - and the diff casing is different than a usual open diff- and therfore the diff lock can not be installed. the solution - as already carried out- will be to order one from korea (all the sportys at breaker yards are with LSD) - which will take 1 month. so i did it. p"s-trackfinder do offer to send the difflock with the casing- cause they dont count on the garage to allign the diff lock properly. its an extra 100$. should have done that.

anyways- i have the diff lock but im waiting for the parts to come from korea. what a shame....will keep u posted.

Hadtomer,

Have you been able to ask them about the 5.38 Ring and Pinions and the winch compatible bull bar they used to produce (see attached picture) or where we are able to source them from. As there is now a couple of difflock options available modifying th e Sporty is looking better and better.

Hello. i havent had a chance to ask them - and besides- this picture was taken from tanker motors- another company (went bankrupt). i do believe that they make extended front forks and transfer ratios, but im not sure. if they do i will be the first to order-believe me... im also waiting for another package-from down under- with 70 mm DOBINSON front springs (rear are jeep tj).

currently im simply happy to have a diff lock- although not a functioning one (looks real nice in the box though)- as i wrote- my sporty has an lsd and the diff case is not compatible - trackfinder say that the case needs to be for a non ABS sporty- here in israel ABS is mandatory on all cars- so i cant find one at a breakers yard. trackfinder do sell the case but its gonna take forever to get here.

well - first of all the front diff - as far a i know- is 26 spline - and my 2001 sporty has a 28 spline rear. second- i could have ordered a front diff lock - trackfinder make them too. but i understand that it can have a dangerous effect on the handling when 4wd is engaged

Locking the front axle like this can have an adverse effect on steering because each wheel wants to turn at the same speed, but using manual lock out hubs on the front will help with that. But then again, you should only be putting the Sportage in 4WD when traction is limited and you need it.

Good to hear things are still working with Trackfinder.

I'd love to get my hands on a front traction aid like a LSD or really a full locker. Then when I need the traction I can just lock the front hubs and put the transfer case in 4WD.
