Slim chance finding one of those for a reasonable price.

4:1 gears are $600 for the Dana 300, cheapest 4:1 gearset.

There is an NPG249. It's a viscous coupler type. Has problems with the VC unit often and the 242 is the usual swap.

IIRC the three digits on NV/NPG tcases are as follows
first didgit = # of speeds, i.e., 1 is hi only, 2 is hi-lo
second digit = strength, the bigger the #, the stronger, so a 231 is weaker than a 242. I think they go up to about 7 or 8
third digit = type of center diff/torque splitter -
1 = Part-time 4WD
2 = Full-time 4WD
3 = Electronic shift
4 = Not currently used
5 = Torsen-type differential
6 = Computer controlled multi-plate wet clutch
7 = GeroDisc
8 = Not currently used
9 = Viscous coupling

I cheated and looked up the 3rd digit stuff....

So it is looking like the Dana 300 is going to be my choice to facilitate the Toyota axle. Now to keep an eye out for the 4:1 gears.

I can give you the NAPA numbers. The connector is a 725176 and the terminals are (2) 725171 16-14ga wire or (2) 725150 for 20-18ga wire and (2) 725152 for the seals. The terminals have to be crimped on though. There is a connector that come with wire on it already a NAPA EC152/ Standard S172 but it is way over priced. Or snag one from a Grand Cheerokee. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

When I took off my body lift I had to cut the floor to clear my flipped 300, but did not have to touch my seat, mines a Sport though. I might have been able to clock it down one notch but wanted it to tuck up as much as possible.

edit. I guess I would have had to do something with my seat if I wasn't running a doubler.

I got a cable linkage set up and playing with the shifter trying to figure out its orientation. I was looking under the montero and notice 2 things. How has others work the body mount situation? The montero has a driverside body mount that the 231 does not have. Also with the automatic transmission the shifter linkage bolts up at this point as well. How has others addressed this? or did yall have manual trannys. Thanks.

The "mount" on the dside is not a support, just a roll restrictor.

Time for a cable shifter for the tranny. Look at art carr.

Really. that is fantastic news about the mount is not an actual mount. i was wondering it did seems kinda flimsy or not as beefy as all the other things on the montero. I will see if I can retain the factory shifter set up, but that does seem to be a poorly design set up.
