Getting the Wheeling Fever
My 22re has started surging while at idle speed. The engine remains at a perfect idle until you press the brake pedal. It only happens when the engine is operating temperature. As soon as you take your foot off the pedal the idling goes back to normal. Does anyone know what this might be?

Thanks guys

22RE's do not like having low coolant. Make sure that's topped off.

Are you running the AC with this? Turn the AC off and see if you still have the problem. If it goes away, your idle for your AC might be a little low.

My truck doesnt have AC. I checked the coolant level and its full. Any other ideas? Thought it may be something to do with vacuum issues, but i dont know. Any ideas would be great.

Thanks

How about the brake booster?

Are you using brake fluid?

Idle speed is likely too high:

As noted above, idle speed is too high. I can exactly duplicate that issue if I turn my idle speed up to 1000-1100, then hitting the brake causes the loping idle. Turn the idle back down around 800 and all is fine. Also, check the TPS idle setting:

You can rule out the brake booster by plugging the vacuum line to the booster temporarily and if the problem remains, it is not the booster, but if the problem vanishes, it is likely a vacuum leak in the booster.

I dont have a tachometer. Should i just turn it down a little and see if that helps?

Easy enough to do. If slower idle fixes the issue, you know the cause.

Well I just dont want to slow my idle too much. Will it hurt my engine if i turn the idle down too low?
