Back to tires. After doing a good inspection under this vehicle yesterday and checking clearances etc... I am going to stick with 265/70R/17 size tires. The rear suspension on this is built of beef, but what the heck did they do the the front suspension on these Gen 3s - what a disappointment. Also the minimal skid plates factory are a joke. Good thing this will be a DD with extremely light 4 wheel duty. Camping and hunting only please.
So for tires, we get snow. Recommendations on tires that are quite on the road, great in snow and light 4x4 duty?
I am leaning towards these: Cooper Discoverer STT Tek3 but a bit worried about on road noise.

I bought the High Country All Terrain ALL-SEASON, ALL-TERRAIN tires from Falken. I paid $138 each plus installation for them at America's Tire. So far I've been very happy with them. No noise and a smooth ride. Falken tires.

I like those Falkens. Need to find a source local or $775 delivered from Discount Tire.

If you can still find them, try to get the Peerless Widetrack Baja ATs. I have them currently on my Montero 3 years old, 40k miles alot of offroad time both mild and extreme and still look great and plow through the snow. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> ![[Linked Image]](http://i.pgcdn.com/pi/72/59/64/725964722_260.jpg) If you can't find them Yokohama makes a Geolander ATS which looks pretty much the same. ![[Linked Image]](http://www.tirerack.com/images/tires/yokohama/yo_geo_at_s_owl_ci2_l.jpg)

If your looking for something really different, I recommend the General Grabbers. I have them on my truck and I like them. They are a good tire for both on and off road. Unfortunately the Red lettering is only available on certain sizes. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tirebuyer.com/tirepreviews/general_grabber_rl_sidewall_386x386.jpg)
