It never came here, The 3.5 DOHC MIVEC is what powers the Pajero EVO, The Diamante had the 3.0 DOHC MIVEC I have a 4G92 MIVEC in one of my Colts, this is a 1600 with 174 HP produced from 1992 to 2000, screaming little engine. Mine will be making well beyond that with just headwork, ITB intake and headers.
The 3.0 + 3.5 were in the 275 range. They also have a 2.0 V6 MIVEC in the FTO. It was 200hp.
When I was living in Ireland, I was working in a town called Thurles in Co. Tipperary. One fine morning in 1998, I heard this mean sounding grumble coming up the road. When I turned to investigate, I was amazed to to see a red Pajero Evo. This thing sounded awesome. So awesome that the guy driving it must have seen the look on my face, because he went around the block and proceeded to drift the truck around the roundabout I was standing in. It was truly a sight to behold.
I owned a 2.5L JDM swb diesel pajero at the time, and immediately called my buddy, who happened to be the senior Mitsu mechanic at one of the biggest Mitsu dealers in Ireland to see how soon I could get one. He told me they only brought 5 into the country, and they were approximately 80,000 Irish pounds to buy, but they were all sold.
Funny thing is, in all the time I lived in Ireland after that day, and all the driving I did during that time, I never saw it, or any of the other 4 Pajero evo's.
Just thinking about it gets me all teary eyed <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" />
