Ok here are a couple pics , they are from the passenger side as both sides are the same lol.I didn't take a pic of the driver side CV, but it was in worse shape , and a little rusty also.

Wow , just took it for a ride , and those brakes are night and day compared to stock. The rotors are cadmium coated and cross drilled , and the pads are supposed to have 50% less powder build up then stock also. They also claimed that you should be able to stop almost 42 feet shorter at 80 miles an hour.I can tell the difference between these and with new stock brakes on the same vehicle as they were new when I got the Jeep , but I think they were cheap , I didn't like the ride with them even though I still have 60-65% on them. All I can say is for the 170 I spent on rotors and brakes , i am very happy with the performance for stopping.I had to try a high speed stop lol , just to see if their claims were true.

The CV and new bearings rode fine also , didn't seem to notice any improvements in ride or handling , but wasn't really expecting too as my bearings weren't shot , and only the boots were in bad shape , the axles hadn't toasted yet , but I think they were getting close to that point.

Looking forward to getting my Doug Thorley's and Hughes air-gap.The TB and injectors are sitting here waiting lol.The one thing I am wondering is why so small a pad in the back of the GC? You would think pad size would be the same front and back.Has anyone ever did an upgrade on the caliper pad without an axle change?

Well , went to both pick n pulls today , the one that said they had 4 jeeps lied , they had one 95 limited like my 96 , the 249 had been pulled and was sitting on the ground , I looked at the tag So , that was a waste of a trip to go there to find out they know nothing about what is out there.

My other trip worked out well , they had a 95 orvis edition there in great shape , guy killed the motor , and if you would have seen the inside of the TB you would know why
Anyway , I grabbed the upcountry springs , then also grabbed the fuel rails so when my hughes intake gets here on Monday I will have them painted and ready to go on the intake , plus I have the thermostat housing , and TB , so it will be almost plug and play for install.
I just gave the springs a quick spray of tremclad , they only had a couple flecks of rust , but they look new now I am not sure if I will go with a 1 1/2 or a 2" spacer with the upcountry , can't remember what the lift was , I think it was 3/4"?

Anyway , the main reason I made the trip was to grab a 242 so I could swap that , now will have to see what other pick n pulls are reasonably close that have a 242.I am not going to a wrecker that pulls things out and then sells them , 750 is way too much for a transfer case.I will also scour the locals to see if anyone is parting one out , then can grab the case and the drive shafts.

Here are a few teaser pics of the new Hughes intake. I added the fuel rails and #19 FMS injectors , the thermostat housing and thermostat , and also stuck on the 52MM TB that is ported and polished. Next step is to have a nice day outside where I can spend the day and swap out the intake. With it partially setup allready it should go faster seeing I don't have a lot left to swap over.

I am also going to get a set of the HS 1.7 roller rockers , and then I saw on Ebay a full suspension kit , not just new bushings , but new ball joints , control arms , sway bars , track bar , the works , for a good price , so instead of just changing out the bushings I will have a complete new suspension for less than new bushings;) So the whole Jeep will be just like new when I am done , and for less than the cost of say getting a brand new transfer case

Got a few things done today , is going to be too cold to do anything for the next couple of days though.I picked up my NP242 and bezel today , bezel is already installed. The truck it came off the guy put in a carbon fibre bezel so it didn't say selec trac , so I left the one in that says quadra trac lol.I also picked up seals for when I do the swap.

I painted the tire cover and cargo cover I got from the Orvis the other day , it was tan and front ot the tire cover is green , so now it is green and black and the cargo cover is black.I used dupli color vinyl and fabric paint and that stuff is awesome I put 2 light coats on and it looks like factory vinyl , I highly recommend this stuff to anyone that wants to touch up any of their interior.

I also installed my new LED strip 1 piece front headlights , so have a couple pics of those , and also some pics of the LED tail lights I installed last year. Was too chilly to play around with the daytime running lights , so I just wired the LED strip to my park lights for now , I can always change it later.

I still have a LED 3rd brake light to install but didn't get into that today.

I like the light style; especially the tail lights.

Here are a couple pics while I am waiting for the weather to warm up to get stuff done. Was -39 celcius for a week waaay too cold lol.

These 2 are the tire cover after I painted the tan black , it came out really good , very happy with that paint. The next is the cargo cover

[Linked Image]

Here is my NP242 just waiting for the oil slinger to come in so can put that on , and a pic of the donor drive shaft , and a close up of the sticker still on it.

The next 2 are my kids and 4 wheeling partners. The big guy is Shadow , unfortunately I had to put him down a few years ago , in the picture you can see the big tumour on his chest , and another one started on his left back hind quarters. It was a very hard thing to do , he was 12 in this pic.

[Linked Image]

The next pic is my spoiled princess Ebony , this was just taken , she is riding in the back of my work truck with me.She will be 17 this March , and she loves to travel , has been all across western Canada a few times.

[Linked Image]

Once it warms up , I think I will start by putting in the up country springs and 1" spacers , that way the drive shaft should fit better without having to shorten it for stock height. It came out of a 98 ZJ with the 4.0.Then I will install the transfer case , and finally get to install the HS 1.7 roller rockers and the intake. Then all that is left is the Doug Thorleys when they get here , and the new suspension kit when I get it.

I assume the tire cover is the standard vinyl stuff... What type of paint did you use and how is it expected to hold up under hot-cold transitions and how about direct sunlight???

BTDT that with the four-legged buddies a few times. Not sure I want to go through that again.

Here is the stuff I used http://www.duplicolor.com/products/vinylFabricCoating. It has a good adhesion factor to it, so you don't need to use any kind of primer , and they say it won't crack , peel or chip. They have done all kinds of projects using it on car interiors from the dash to the seat with good results. as far as direct sunlight , I am sure it is like any dash , etc that after long term exposure it will eventually change color , but it is cheap and easy to do , so even if it does fade after a few years , can always buy a couple more cans and do it again. As far as I know there isn't too much out there that won't fade with years of exposure to UV. Could always use a protection coating like armor all to reduce UV exposure , but I am not that worried about it , the tire carrier will be in the back as well as the cargo cover , and I do have tinted windows in the back also;) I will keep an eye on it and let you know about any noticeable changes.

Well , first day off in 2 weeks today and it was nice out so I took advantage to start my lift project. I got the rear upcountry springs swapped in and the coil spring spacers , but the new bumpstops were a pain , so am thinking of a way to pop them in.I think I will use some glue as I had them partially in but they kept popping back out , even using compression to pop them in.Other than that the rears are done and torqued down.
I then started on the front , took everything apart , got the passenger side spring out , but trying to get the new spring in just didn't want to work.I needed an extra 3/4" of compression or droop , which I could not get.I am going to have to get a set of coil spring compressors to get them smaller. My way of wrapping them with strong wire after compressing them didn't work , I just couldn't get enough on them.Hopefully the weather gets nice again so I can finish it off.The rear looks good , I will try and get some pictures tomorrow , but it is a little off with the front still jacked up on the stands.
