Check to see if you may have hit the plug on the air flow meter or if any water may have gotten into it at all.

Similar thing with mine when I got it, chased my tail for ages and it turned out to be quite a simple (but expensive) fix...

1997 Sportage - Extended forks, Dobinsons 2 inch front lift coils, rear Dobinsons TJ lift coils, GME UHF, $8 bullbar (I love eBay!)
2001 HZJ78 Troopcarrier - 2 inch lift, extended shocks, Ex Mine vehicle. Still has yellow reflective stripe! - GONE

Not 100% sure of the location of it, but it is possible that you could have accidentally hit the wire on the crank angle sensor which would also have a similar effect...

i also though of that it bolts on to the gearbox housing close to the exhaust manifold i will have a look at it the question is how do i test it? it might have got water in it with the wash.i just finished going thru the spark plugs and the coils could not find anything and it still does it the stalling thing the weird thing i noticed is that when it start to stall i put it in N and pump the gas then it stutters a bid and then it is fine again and off i go.i am going to lift the sporty up now so that it is better to work on if i find anything i will let you know.yet again thanks for the advise so far

I would go get some electrical contact cleaner spray, remove the air flow meter from the intake pipe and give it a quick spray on the metal wires inside it. Just a quick spray and let it evaporate. Then put it back it and see if it helps at all. Be really careful not to damage the wiring at all, keep the can at distance of at least 20cm.

thanks again for the advise i still need to do that at this moment i am looking at the fuel pump i don't know how to test it to see if it is working the way it should so i am taking it in to get tested as well.i had the sporty at a tuning shop to read the computer for any codes but for some reason they can find anything wrong i even switch the crank shaft sensors with my wife's sporty(2003) and it still does the same.my plan was to switch fuel pumps today but i discovered that the wiring are not the same regards to the connecting plugs and i really don't want to go and cut wires at this moment i will let you know again if i come across something <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
