Roll Me Over

My sister moved and wants to stay in contact with me and my mom by computer. Well my mom purchased a laptop that had a camera in it. So I looked at a old cam I was given a few years back. The picture is ok I guess but it takes a while to respond to movement. I can say something and then about 1-2 seconds later I see my mouth move. So any way what is the best cam I can get maybe with a mic in it for under $50?

I also want it to be able to stand on its base without having to attach it to my monitor because I don't want to use glue or screws on my monitor.

I bought this Logitech C310 last month when it was on sale for ~$35 with free shipping. It was a replacement for the built-in cam in our laptop, which stopped working for no apparent reason. Our relatives immediately noticed the improved video quality on Skype. Built-in mic works well. It can be used free-standing, or the base can unfold and rest over the top edge of your monitor/laptop, no screws or adhesive necessary. It comes with driver software that installed in Win 7 with no issues. It tries to convince you to install Logitech's own HD video/conferencing program but that can be ignored. I have no real complaints, would buy again.

I prefer the Microsoft cameras. They work very well, and the driver/software doesn't clutter up your computer. Works with MSN, Skype, etc. like it was made for it. MS keeps the drivers updated and working with future versions of Windows.

Logitech is my 2nd choice.

Stay away from Creative web cameras, they don't keep their drivers up to date with the older cameras. I have 8 cameras here and only 2 of them work with Windows 7, the rest are not supported any more.
