Need a Spot
Hey Guys, I need some help. I have an 89 Trooper with the 3.4l GM crate engine. I'm not sure what the part is called that I need. It is the part that the oil filter screws on to. Mine is cracked and I'm having a bear of a time finding a replacement new or used. Can anyone help or point me in the right direction? Thanks

Roll Me Over
I "believe" that the part only came on the 2.8 when installed in an Isuzu. Your two best bets are going to be either a junk yard or Jerry LeMond.

Hey Jim, We have tried all the junk yards in our area and beyond and Jerry doesn't have one. I was hoping someone on the forum had one or knew someone who had one. I'm desperate.

Bare with me, this is going to be a lengthy answer, but your solution should be in here somewhere.

Since the 3.4 is from the GM V60 degree family,(2.8,3.1,3.4), maybe you can find one of the other engines and vehicles in your local junkyard which might have that. Here is a reference link to the other engines. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Motors_60%C2%B0_V6_engine

It looks by this link that you're looking for a "oil filter adapter"... http://www.justanswer.com/gmc/6mary-gmc-s10-1992-chevy-s10-2-8-tbi-5speed-2wd.html Or, possibly an "engine oil cooler"... http://www.tonkinonlineparts.com/showAssembly.aspx?ukey_assembly=837489&ukey_product=5953349 at the price.

Another solution might be to get an "oil filter relocation kit"... http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/search/?Ntt=Oil_Filter_Relocation

Somedays I have just too much free time.
