86 22r with carb starts fine, but then idles rough. Seems like it is getting too much gas. Once it is warmed up (running for 5 minutes) still idles rough, but if I turn it off, wait a minute and then restart it, it has a little trouble starting, but then idles fine. If I restart within a half hour it starts fine and idles fine. If it sits much longer than a half hour it will idle rough until it is shut off, I waited a minute and restarted. I am not super mechanical so hoping for a simple fix or good mechanic. Thanks.

Do you have alot of black soot around your tailpipe? Disconnect and plug the line to the AAP on the carb. Fixed my issue on my old 85 that was carbed. I used to have a pic, but don't anymore. It's the small rubber hose directly under the larger fuel inlet hose, connected at the carb. Little diaphram goes bad, and allows the extra fuel used only for cold start ups, continue to dump excess fuel. You are running too rich.

Sounds like that might be it. There is plenty of soot when idling rough. Leaves a nice black patch on the driveway. I'll give it a try this weekend. Thanks!

Agreed, esp if your dipstick smells like fuel. It's called 'washdown', and isn't pretty if let go too long.

Why wait? It doesn't cost anything, and only takes a minute...

I went without mine (AAP) disconnected, line plugged, for years up until I traded it in. Really doesn't get cold enough here in Phoenix to really matter anyway....

You can pull the little hose and stick a BB in there too.

I pulled and plugged the hose Yesterday and it seems to have fixed the problem. Thanks again!
