Hi all! I could really use some advice from some of the experts. I will take a picture a little later today in case it's not clear.
I have a gasoline leak under the hood. I know exactly where it is coming from. Up on the top front area of the passenger side, right close to the fuel pressure regulator, there is a rubber hose that goes front to back. The rubber hose hooks onto a steel fuel line with one of those spring-loaded clamps.
Right where the rubber hose is clamped to the steel hose, fuel was dripping or sometimes spraying out. The rubber was no longer sealing tight to the steel hose. I moved the spring clamp back out of the way and put on 2 screw-on hose clamps and tightened them really tight, and it stopped the leak at first. However, sometimes when the engine is really cold, the rubber I guess shrinks, and then it leaks again, and once the engine warms up, the leak stops. I tried tightening the clamp tighter but it stripped the screw on the clamp. What I really need to do I think is replace the hose. It's getting cracked anyway.
So, is this a special kind of hose that can handle gasoline? Do you think Autozone stocks it? What I really want to do, if possible, is get all the parts I will need before doing the job, so I can do the job all at once and not need a ride to the store for parts. I might have to order some parts, after all.
It looks like to get to the hose, I will need to remove the top half of the intake manifold plenum thing. Sort of like what you would do to get to the fuel injectors. Maybe not as hard, I'm not sure yet.
So, what I'm wondering, if this is even possible, is can anyone tell me which gaskets and parts I will need if I take this top part of the manifold off?
So far I think I need a gasket for the throttle body, of which they make a metal re-usable gasket, so if I have the metal gasket I might not need to replace this one. Then I think there will be another gasket where the top half of the manifold connects to the bottom half of the manifold. I don't know if this is re-usable.
Anything else I'm forgetting? I'll take a pic later to help. I hope someone has already done this job before and can give some advice on what parts I'll need It's just hard for me to get a ride to the parts store and they don't stock Sportage parts much anyway so ordering everything in advance would be the best way
