Im am new member but long time customer as it where

I'm havin trouble with changing gears in my sportage. When engine is off changes like a dream but as the drive goes on and when the 4wd is warm I'm having to double clutch or feed it in to gear. All the while im about to push my foot through the floor making sure that clutch is depressed all the way.

I have recently changed master and slave cylinders even though I got them from the wreckers as it seems to pretty hard to find a master cylinders at auto store is Aus. All the same there was a very marginal difference it was a liitle better. But far from a smooth gear change.

It has about 170,000km on it. now I have done much googling to find a common issue but to no avail. So of what I have read that seems to be close to my problem, is a synchronizer problem (in the post I read he was saying about a plug you can check on the out side of trans?) would there be any truth to this or is a replace clutch plate problem?

From your description there is no meat left on your clutch plate or adjustment, replace the clutch and it should fix your problem.

there is a heavy duty option through Adelaide clutches (I think they are called extreme clutches from memory).

Master cylinder does both brakes and clutch so make sure it is good if you have replaced with a second hand one.

You may need to go genuine on that one.

The clutch does have it's own master cylinder. It only uses the fluid from the brake master cylinder.

Sorry your right my bad.

Had to replace my brake master cylinder a couple of months after I first bought mine and remembered that it did the clutch fluid as well.

Well by the looks I need a new clutch, as the replacements parts (master and slave cylinders) I have done have not done the miracle fix like I was hoping.

As it feels like the clutch is not disengaging till nearly on the floor and when changing gears , feels like your dragging a stick on a gravel road. Very stiff and clunky. The gear box sounds like it whirring to could be just be I have the cover off (the plastic cover in side of 4wd) and I also had to fix the linkage bushes at the base of gear stick as it was sloppy. Again hasn't fix it completely (bit of a DIY job) but it is better.

So ... are these issue I have placed in front of you all sound like I need a clutch kit? or possibly something else?

If it is a clutch kit what would be a good one to get for a weekend warrior 4wder? beach and tracks are the main thing am looking at doing

When you replaced both, did you bleed all the air out?

Yeah line bleed thats not the problem, what I have done is an oil change for the gear box. And thats where I have found a noticeable change. Now its not as hard to change unless well warmed up (still not as bad but not smooth). When first start up works like a charm like it should but warmed up then it gets a little hard to slip into gear. Talked to my mechanic he recons a couple of changes could fix it or could be the synchro's (what ever they are cant cant a proper info on it) that could be the problem.
