If so, you'll get a real kick out of this... CNN's report on Formula 1
"Does this part need to be in there?"

Did you read the one article on how a turbo works where the writer had not clue?

Did you read the one article on how a turbo works where the writer had not clue? Or how about how turbos increase grip by using the exhaust steam... Isn't just baffling that CNN could allow such nonsensical dribble... The comments are harsh, but hysterical...

The statement that got me outside the tech stuff was: From next year, all F1 cars will be required to have turbo engines, in a bid to be more environmentally friendly. As if that would reduce the sport's footprint at large. Holy cow. Yes, the comments are 'special'.

Like the difference will even be noticable; from 2mpg to 2.5mpg... LOL A turbo engine under load get HORRIBLE mileage, look at a 4cyl Subaru STI, highway they get 25, and in go fast mode they get 12-17 avg...

Shoot, I can get about 17mpg out of the Taiga Taco with the camper on back. Granted, I'm only running at 60mph right at my GVW, but I can pull over somewhere and not have to pay for a room!

Editor's note: An earlier version of this article contained a number of inaccuracies, for which we apologise. Christina Macfarlane and Rachel Wood, who prepared the television story, were in no way responsible for those inaccuracies. You can watch their report at the top of this article Looks like they took out "some" of the "inaccuracies", but what's left is still laughable. I remember turbos from the 70's, when they had a 1.5 liter turbo or a 3 liter NA motor option, then they went to a witch's brew of hydrocarbons and massive boost. And F1 has been around since at least the 30's.
Not responsible for advice not taken...

And F1 has been around since at least the 30's. The way I'm reading it on Wikipedia, it originated in 1946 and the first race was in 47... The formula was defined during 1946; the first Formula One race was during 1947; the first World Championship season was 1950. Although they do indicate that the series originated with the European Grand Prix Motor Racing of the 20's & 30's...
