How do, new user here, I have a 2001 Kia Sportage 2.0SX
So far I have had spring spacers fabricated and fitted, 15"x8" 0 offset rims with 31 10.50 15 MT's, fitted an electric cooling fan conversion, and binned the vacuum hubs in favour of the earlier mechanical auto hubs (surprised to learn they're manufactured by Warn with Kia decals)
Next on the to do list is solid sill conversion with built in rock sliders, fit a body lift, and swap the rear spacer for the TJ springs I have sat with the stock pile of steel and spare alloys. First I need to find a new shock that will suit the extra spring length, any idea's?
I've got Bilstein shocks that spec for the Rav4 on the rear of my Sportage. 4" lift from the springs.

Hi thanks, oddly enough, I don't get many double takes on my Sporty, but then the company I usually roll with includes a Jeep Cherokee on 9" of lift, custom 4 link rear end and 35" Maxxis Creepy Crawlers, so my Sporty still looks tiny beside it <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />
I plumped for Rav4 shock 1999, having measured them at full stretch they measure 660mm more or less 26" hope to be swapping the spacers out for TJ springs and the Rav4 shocks this weekend, then it out with the 9" grinder to start cutting the rusted out sills away for the Box section/Sliders combo we have planned.
That's a good looking truck! I bet your buddy with the mega jeep gets surprised with how much stuff you can make it over...
Thanks, no surprises as to how capable the Kia is, we did some video research on youtube before I got it.
It's all the land Rover owners who get the shock, ya know those who point and laugh, then have to eat their own words because I just cleared a climb they got stuck on <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />
So Jeep TJ springs and Rav4 shocks installed, slightly disappointed as she sits at the same height on the rear as it did with the 52mm spacers I had fitted, but at least I have the travel on the rear end to match the lift now, may need to look at dislocation cones for the springs though as they are slightly loose in their seats when at maximum extension with all 4 wheels off the ground on the lift.
Really nice looking..even without the mods. I'm jaleous. With winter here in QUebec and the tons of salt they pour on the roads for incompetent drivers there is no way we can keep these then Sportage ( with the poor grade sheet metal they used) in such shiny shape. Glad for you. I'd buy one again if I could find . THis original Sportage model is the fun car that has not been replaced in this role by newer versions.
