Had a leak. After all tries, it turned out it seemed it was coming from the return hose metal attachment to the pump. Went to remove the PS pump. So got rid of the A/C compressor and bracket (left top and center -- A/C empty for several years) and this gave access to PS pump from the top..and removed everything.
Indeed there was a pinhole in metal return elbow (top center/right)....so after brushing all rust out I covered the whole fixture with epoxy glue. (I had fixed the gas tank that way).
I tested the pressure hose for leaks and although badly corroded it turned out OK....and decided to keep it for a try. Now..in case some have gone into that area, ...here is the question: a replacement pressure hose as listed in RockAuto shows a pair of copper washers...mine had none. INstead, on the pump side, I can see room for 2 O-rings (bottom right - enlargment of center right) ..although only one can be seen. I plan to install top and bottom washers from my inventory. Yes, a new pressure hose would be ideal...but the best price in Canada is twice the price you get at RockAuto (excluding shipping)..so..since the Sporty is near the end..... I want to take a chance at saving 69$....most of the access route is now clear and it would not be too hard to reach the place again for a replacement, if it turns out necessary.
ANy comment from your experience on this is welcome.

Correction: both O-rings are there.....that makes it easier....
About the 2 round objects seen in the bottom center picture.. could they be O-rings, not washers as said above....although O-rings should be black....not copper colour???...
I'm going to coat the metal section of the pressure hose with epoxy too..not that it would contain pressure, but to keep water and salt from further attack...

EDIT: Now that is a nice coating....

I just replaced all of my power steering lines when I did the big overhaul on my Sporty (oil pump, timing belt, etc). The lines weren't leaking. But there was corrosion on the metal from road salt. And it was such a pain to get in there and pull it all apart, I opted to replace the lines for good measure. Regarding the two rings in the photo of the PS line, you are correct - they are copper washers. They sit on both sides of the ring-end fitting: one between the pump and fitting, and the other between the nut and fitting.

Yes, this is the ideal way .

...was the elbow connector (at the pump on the return line) part of the package...or is it considered a part of the pump ?
I had already replaced half of the lines...those that connect to the gear assembly and the reserve tank...both with home made equivalent.
Since I live in a rather cold climate, I did not contemplate investing when the a/c quit a few years ago...it serves here probably less than 20 days a year....so now that I have removed the a/c compressor and bracket, the access to the p/s pump from the top is quite easy and I'm ready to get back to that place in a matter of minutes.(removing the vapour purge tank is easy and fast).

I'll work at putting the p/s back to work tomorrow.
..will report.

The elbow for the low pressure return appears to be part of the pump, not part of a rebuild kit. I just looked over a parts diagram online and couldn't find a stand alone part number for the elbow. So I'm guessing it's part of the pump. Being that it's part of the low pressure return, a good patch job should suffice, if possible. It's essentially a negative pressure line that allows the pump to suck fluid back into the system from the reservoir. If you need a replacement for cheap, I'd say to look for one a wrecking yard or fab one up with some steel pipe and a piece of flat stock for a mounting flange, assuming you have access to a welder (man or machine). If the elbow wall hasn't corroded to the point of being thin and weak, you might be able to seal it up with Rescue Tape. That stuff rocks!!! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />
