Djunk, I have the DNJ package in my hand. As stated above, it says right on the package that they are Viton.

I just finished doing the VSS on my 99 sohc. I bought the Felpro head gasket set b/c I needed the valve cover gaskets too and when I called a few dealers the price for the seals and gaskets was twice as much as buying the whole Felpro set.
It claims to contain "premium valve guide seals", whatever the f that means. When I finally finished the job the truck didn't smoke at all and doesn't appear to be leaking from the valve covers any more, either. I guess time will tell how long the VSS hold up. An availability search showed the Felpro set available at an O'Reiley's close to work....That gasket set was $167.00...

I owned a Dodge Shadow with the 3.0 eng, '94 year model. It started using a quart of oil every 700 miles before the 70k mile warranty ran out. The Chrysler dealer told me at that time that there was a problem with the guides loosening in the heads and pulling oil around the guide into the combustion chamber. They supposedly replaced one piston because the rings had stuck, replaced the guides and new seals. never did find out how they stopped the guides from loosening, if in fact they did.

There was an engineering error. The bore for the guides was a tad too large. The guide (usually the exhaust) would drop down. The cure was to use a guide with a snap ring to keep it from dropping. There was not so much a problem of oil leaking around the guide as there was with the seal getting too hot because the guide no longer transferred enough heat to the head because the contact area was reduced when it dropped and the guide picked up more heat from being deeper in the exhaust stream.
