I want to change my differential gears from 3.90 to 3.55 on my 1983 Mitsubishi Pickup. I want to lower the RPM's at cruising speed on the interstate to maximize my mpg and driving comfort. I can easily obtain the 3.55 gears for the 8" rear end from a 2wd Mitsubishi Pickup but I'm wondering if there is 3.55 gear avail for the 7.25 front from like a Starion or something similar? Does any one know?

I have a Starion 3.54 gear set that I'll send you for the shipping. This would be impetus toward my goal of LSD for the front of my MM.

It looks like I am in business then. This should lower my RPM's from 2600 RPM's to 2350 RPM's at 65MPH. I know it may not seem like a lot but this little diesel is much happier at 2350 RPM's and it will get better MPG's because I will not be winding out the turbo.

I have no way to confirm, as the differential was a loose part included with my MM purchase.

Is what you want is 83 84 and half of 85 years of Starion diff thats the 7.5 gears ... Or RWD car 81 on back ...And as one who has done a lot of gear work on Mitsu's I think you will need to do some machine work to make it all work ....But I "think" theres two differant gear sets in 7.5 NR...

Could you not also swap to a V6 Montero 8" front differential case and the later Starion LSD with 4-cyl CV axles your MM has? A thought...
