So I'm still on the prowl for a cheap replacement for my KM-145, and I have been keeping an eye open for Mighty Max's too. I just need the 2.4/2.6 wide block bolt pattern with a hydro clutch, right? The rest should bolt up? Also I may need to ship. How much should I expect to pay for a tran+tcase strapped to a pallet? I don't know how much these things weigh. I'm thinking <$100? If so I have a line on a rebuilt trans/case for $300+shipping if I can get the guy to ship it to me. Thanks guys. Trying to keep this pig on the road

this probably won't help you find what you need,,,but the USA 97 2.4 Montero Sport had the ?V5mt1? (corect my number if wrong please). I think it is basicly the 145 beefed up a bit. The Montero sport I believe was a hydaulic clutch. UInfortunately the one at my local yard is now melting in China.

Has anyone done this? Is it a bolt-in?

Don't all the Astron engines share the same bellhousing pattern? The older 4D56's can use the later V5MT1 gearboxes so if that fits you could also look out for 4cyl RWD Hyundai's and Kia's if they are available in your region.

The only Mighty Max transmissions that are compatible with the Raider are the KM145 found in the Turbo Diesel pickups. While Mighty Max pickups share a common bell housing, the KM145 on the diesel pickups, Raider and Montero is a hydraulic actuated. Those found on the Mighty Max are cable actuated. It's not a big deal but I would recommend finding a transmission from another Raider.

It is in no way related to a KM145. Major beef. Cast iron... If you can get one it will last. Just keep GL4 in it.

the USA 97 2.4 Montero Sport had the ?V5MT1? (corect my number if wrong please). If I'm not mistaken, the Sports with the 2.4L were only 2 wheel drive, but if they do have the V5MT1 transmissions, this could be a source for a detachable bellhousing in which case the V6 Montero (not sport) 5 speeds which are V5MT1 would be a fab-up possibility. Would need the T-Case also, probably custom drive shafts... The KM145 without t-case weighs right around 100 pounds packaged for shipping. I've sent a few.

These are all fascinating ideas, thanks for them. Can you expound on what method you shipped and how much it usually cost you? Might be my best bet for getting another KM145 as they are scarce around here.
