 So 1990 Tranny has over 300k, Do I service it? And where to get speedo cable?

Tranny last serviced at 200K. Truck refuses to die! Just put new flasher in for actual working turn signals and fixed the horn. So do I dare to have it serviced? My friend who owns a shop is kinda afraid to touch it with that many miles.
Next- where can I get a speedo cable?

Servicing consists only of draining the old fluid and cleaning or replacing the filter screen and then replacing the fluid. I would NOT flush the tranny under any circumstances. To do so stirs up old ghosts that are better left sleeping. I would only use the special Mitsu fluid. There is plenty of anecdotal evidence that Dexron just is not as good.
I would try rockauto for the cable. If that fails, I'd try to find a real speedo repair shop and get them to reuse the ends and make a whold new cable.

But he can get the Mitsu stuff. He is worried that if he does this that it won't even drive off the rack... Issue with Rock Auto is I can't find the cable. I did find a Mitsu parts dealer that has it- but not 100% sure. .

To find the speedo cable on rockauto, look under Body-Interior. That's where they have it listed for the '87 Raider. It's next on my parts list.
On a side note... I miss my '94 Rodeo LS 4x4. Some idiot turned left in front of me and that was it.

To find the speedo cable on rockauto, look under Body-Interior. That's where they have it listed for the '87 Raider. It's next on my parts list.
On a side note... I miss my '94 Rodeo LS 4x4. Some idiot turned left in front of me and that was it. Body interior LOL! Thanks! I will post up some pics of my rodeo this week when I get a chance to clean it.

What is wrong with the speedo cable? If the outer housing is fine, you can replace only the core square cable thing, which just slips out. If it's just a twitchy needle, you can pull out the old core and relube it and reinsert (I've used an electric drill on slow to put the core back in, wiping on lube as it inserts in the housing.
