I haved decided on a 97' SR as my replacement for my very trusty Ford superduty diesel. The truck can't handle the tight trails where I elk hunt like this thing can and I'm not worried about getting a few scratches on her either. My replacement research started months ago. I looked at gen I first but decided on the roomy 4 door gen II to accomodate all of my gear and a dog. Having AC, a panoramic sunrood and a rear locker might have had something to do with the decision as well. It needs a little work here and there but it runs, drives and only has 110k miles onit. Oh, I paid $1300 for it too. I've read every post in the archives but still might have a few questions like; do you know if 98' sport nerfs will fit a 97 SR? Regards,
Dwight

Nerfs will do naught for you. The Sport and Montero do have some interchangeable parts, but these may not work for you. Others will suggest rock sliders built for the purpose.

Russell Hi Russel. Thanks for the info. For my purposes, mainly keeping brush off the body panels, I think they would suit me well. This isnt a crawler and although it will get used off road they are pretty tame compared to where some guys go. At $18.00 a pop from the yard well, you can't beat that and they are sturdy enough to take some mild abuse. The ARB's are nice, I will give you that. I think I will crawl under tomorrow and see if there are any factory mounting points. Thanks again. Dwight

I don't "think" there are factory mounting points. You may have to have something welded.

Frames underneath are not the same. That's what I was thinking and I dont plan on doing any welding on this thing just yet. Thanks. Dwight

Welcome to the wire. Nice to see another from Monroe on the wire. You have a good looking ride. I will get some pics up soon. Welcome to the wire! There's a guy down in Tacoma selling running boards off his '95 SR. They probably have a better chance of fitting than ones off a Sport. PM your number and I put you in contact with him. ~ Jon

I am still kind of surprised how strong the factory running boards are actually... I have gotten hung up on them several times and they are still very much attached.
