So I was at the local off-road event traversing some man-made objects. Got the 35 down in between a couple chunks, tried getting over it and bigger than anything, start getting that ugly rpm climbing, tires not moving action. 197K miles on the speedo. I have all the p/w from the original owner , and could not find anything on the engine having been out. So now searching for a clutch. RockAuto has a Sachs, which I like that brand from my VW days. They also have Luk, not a brand I had great success with. What has been ran out here for a new clutch 89 3.0

I've used LUK with success.

$469 is not in the budget for that right now. Blew out the back shocks and tore a brake line up, master cylinder and brake booster need swapping out, all on the LandRaider. And now since I'll be taking the engine outta the Ram, I may as well do motor mounts, t belt etc. Not the way to start the spring season.

As long as you stay away from the no name ebay clutches, you'll be fine. Cheap clutches can be poorly balanced, have rivets break, or wear quickly.

Any name brand on rock auto or parts store will do. Sachs is oem on a lot of Swedish and German stuff. Valeo is oem on a lot, including Ford. I think I've seen Exert as the oem for someone, and possibly luk too? Its all good.

Phoenix friction is where UPS gets most clutches for the trucks. Works fine. They (online) sell a fun stage 2 clutch for the 2.6 montero. The side that slips is conventional material, while the side that grips is a puck style. Drives and shifts like stock but hold far more, perfect since I doubled my hp. They might sell that for your 3.0 or can easily make one.

88 Montero, StarQuest turbo, Kormex 5speed +tuff-pan w/phoenix f. stage2 clutch, 4in lift+33' tires, 4.875 lsd, short-throw shifter, Aisin hubs, SR big brakes, gen2 uca's, elantra alt, and so much more... 16g turbo w/hardpipes + 4.90 locking disk-brake axle soon (maybe lsd or aussie front??)
