My gas cap is worn out, so I want to replace it with one of these because I am lazy and used to the Ford rental cars lately.

Has anyone had success finding on that fits?

I found a listing for one for a 2000 Montero sport, and I thought those used the same cap?

Did you read the reviews ...? More upset then happy ... If your car sniffs the gas tank pressure it will set the CIL

How I cross refferance things... Go on rockauto and compare gas cap numbers for your car and other more popular models. When you find a match, use that new application for the stant one.

Like see if a land rover disco cap crosses, I used one on my gen1 for a bit as that's all I could grab quick at the upull after looking mine on the way there,

88 Montero, StarQuest turbo, Kormex 5speed +tuff-pan w/phoenix f. stage2 clutch, 4in lift+33' tires, 4.875 lsd, short-throw shifter, Aisin hubs, SR big brakes, gen2 uca's, elantra alt, and so much more... 16g turbo w/hardpipes + 4.90 locking disk-brake axle soon (maybe lsd or aussie front??)

I have used these on several cars that had evap sensors and they worked fine with that. Also all new fords have these instead of gas caps.

As for the cross referencing - I use rockauto a lot to do that, and looking at all the crossreferencing I can find, it appears that there is one listed for a later model montero sport, and I assume that uses the same cap.. so maybe I will just bite the bullet and order one.

WIll let you guys know how it turns out. I put gas in the montero every other month or so and my gas cap is getting hard and hard to take off (stripped). Every time I get it off and refill I tell myself I am going to order a gas cap before the next time I need gas.
