Read the archive about upgraded alt's for Gen 1 SWB
here

Seems to be some discrepancy. Any advice on what to get, or just go with a Starion unit?

If you get a starion unit used, it won't likely last. Guys on starquestclub report many issues. If you get it new, there are, many better options for that money.

That's a Hyundai elantra alternator designed to bolt right in. Only heard good stuff, have one on the shelf to,drop,in next weekend.

There was a group buy on starquestclub years ago before my time. Its a adaptor kit to use a gm "iceberg" alternator. You can get up to 135 amps. The above is just an example, the seller has is in la la land with that price. More like $100.

88 Montero, StarQuest turbo, Kormex 5speed +tuff-pan w/phoenix f. stage2 clutch, 4in lift+33' tires, 4.875 lsd, short-throw shifter, Aisin hubs, SR big brakes, gen2 uca's, elantra alt, and so much more... 16g turbo w/hardpipes + 4.90 locking disk-brake axle soon (maybe lsd or aussie front??)

Sorry, I wasn't being clear on that. There's an alt/starter shop in cali making these things. I don't know the details, but from the looks it's a Hyundai elantra alternator case modified to fit the g54b along with a starion pulley. Internals are maybe elantra with a mitsu voltage regulator or something.

Its home brew, so you can only get it from them or make your own.

Also an alternative, which I did:

The 1g Eclipse alternator is 75A I believe, and if you can find a GVR4 one, they are 90A. Both will fit pretty easily with some minor modification. The plug is the same.
