Impressive! Can you post a pic of your coil retainers? I've been planning to rig something up on mine but haven't gotten to it. Nice work!

1997 Sportage 4x4, auto-trans, Warn manual hubs, 4" UPYOURKIA front lift, TJ 106AA rear springs, 2-5/8" body lift, 31x10.50 treads, SmittyBilt SRC front and XRC rear bumper, swing-out tire mount, OBX LSD front diff, Track Finder rear locker, 5.38 R&Ps and... really crappy gas mileage! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shiner.gif" alt="" />

Need a Spot
I did not take pictures while building it since it was 101 degrees outside and documenting the 5 different design failures before i came up with this one was the least of my worries. Its by far the most simple way i could figure so that's the one I stuck with so far. The bottom posts I added to the axle was a quick crude way to keep the bottom of the spring where it needed to be. I'll be changing that to a bumpstop\spring locator today if I get some more arc rods. I'm even thinking about flipping the whole setup over so the spring retainer is on the axle and the bumpstop is on top. Should make for a smoother transition back to level. I will take pictures this time around and post them. Here are some pictures of the way it is now.

The retaining plate was made from a chunk of scrap flat stock that was 4" wide and 1\8th inch thick. I cut it to about 6.5" long and cut the corners off. From there I used a large vice and a bfh and formed a curved lip in the long ends of the plate forming the spring keeper edges then ground to half the thickness of the coil spring and drilled a hole in the center for the mounting bolt. Next step is to use a sawzall or cutoff wheel and remove most of the upper spring plates center locater bump. I then found some washers that were 1\4 inch thick and welded a nut to on side then drilled a relief hole in the frame for the bolt to go into when tightened. Next step is insert the bolt into the nut washer combo and then weld in place over the hole I cut. From there its up to you how to locate the bottom. Like I said before I'm considering flipping it upside down for better performance and a cleaner look.
