Hey guys. I'm new to the forum and new to the Raider. My grandpa has an 89 v6 with an automatic transmission just sitting on his lot. I inquired about it and he said the motor and tranny are good and that he'd sell it to me for $500! He then went on to explain that it got hot, caught fire and burnt up all of the hoses and wiring. I haven't purchased yet but for $500 bucks it seems like a pretty good deal. Are there any other things I should be worried about, assuming I get all of the hoses and wiring? I wont know exactly whats wrong until I've purchased and actually taken it to a mechanic but I wasnt sure if anyone else had ran into the same problem and could offer some advice. And also, it has a busted grill and headlights. Ive been googling like crazy and cant seem to find a whole lot of parts for this rig. Ive read how scarce the parts are, but I didnt think finding a grill insert would be such a challenge.

Welcome to 4x4Wire, Tanner!

The 89 model has some specific parts for that year only. These items include the ECU, distributor, EGR tube, and other things. Either from an 89 Montero V6, or another Raider V6, you will be able to source the repair pieces. Your grandfather 'should' give you the chance to evaluate the vehicle before purchasing it, I'd think.

I won't pimp the pieces that I have too hard, but I am one of the parts guys here.
