I have a '99 Montero with 300k on it. It was a non-running project last fall, then the weather got bad and I've done nothing with it. I'm getting back to work on it, and it just so happens my local wrecking yard has a 2004 Endeavor. I'm looking for info on a 6G75 swap, and I'm finding lots of threads posted by people who want to do it, have researched doing it, and rumors about somebody who actually did it, but those threads all seem to die with no indication that a swap was actually done.
I've read in several threads that the block swaps with minor mods for mounting brackets, and I'd just use my heads and accessories. I've read in another thread about somebody using the block and heads, but that was some guy in Australia. Nothing I've seen is clear on detail, or pictures.
When I search I come up with lots of stuff on Eclipse swaps, but nothing much related to the Montero. If anybody knows of any threads you could link me to, I'd appreciate it. Also interested in any other input or thoughts in terms of what I'd use (block only, block & heads), and any issues other than tapping a few new holes. I have a limited window of opportunity to get this motor, so I want to get on this quick if it'll work out. I don't know how many miles are on the Endeavor, but it's in pristine condition except for the back where it was hit. Almost no wear on the seats, so I'm assuming it's fairly low miles, and there only so much time / effort / money that I want to spend on my 300k motor.
Any and all thoughts appreciated.
Thanks
