Its been a long while since I've been on this board. My '87 raider had donated its motor to my '88 montero. I've been frantically working to get it pretty much stock but functional in time to plow my driveway. Once started up however, it's sitting at a pretty high idle and not kicking down, like the 2K mark.
I've read plenty in the searches about the problem with the V6's but not so much with the 2.6L. Here's some more background. its a gen 1 SWB 2.6, auto with a/c (not hooked up)

1. the block was switched out but the manifold and carb are original to the truck and have been sitting for who knows how long
2. throttle cable adjusted and idle screws adjusted (including the DO NOT touch ones)
3. traced (the fun job) my vacuum lines checking for leaks.
4. coolant up to level and run up to temp. (have not checked the sensor yet)

To note she's running rich and appears to be dumping fuel from high idle circuit ie. above the throttle plate.

Just looking for any thoughts before I R&R the carb with one of the others I have on the bench

ECU is toast, probably your O2 sensor as well.

When I joined this board, way back in 2005, Brendan sent me the ECU...fixed that issue right up

Thanks for the reply. I tried swapping ECU's from the truck to be scrapped, no luck. I did put a cleaned up new carb on and voila. I'm guessing from sitting something inside the first carb was either stuck open or cracked etc. I have a rebuild kit coming from rock auto, I'll autopsy it later. Right now it's nice to have life back in the monty again!!
Just a few electrical gremlins to excise now.....
