MORENO VALLEY, Calif. – The Bureau of Land Management will hold a meeting of the BLM California Desert District Advisory Council, demonstrating that partnerships and inclusion are vital to managing sustainable, working public lands. The public is welcome to attend the meeting, which will occur on March 20, at the Hilton Garden Inn, Mirage Room, 12603 Mariposa Rd., Victorville, from noon to 5 p.m.
Advisory Councils provide advice and recommendations for the BLM to consider on resource and land management issues within the BLM. The Bureau of Land Management maintains 37 chartered advisory committees located in the West. Advisory Committees are sounding boards for BLM initiatives, regulatory proposals and policy changes. Each citizen-based council consists of 10 to 15 members from diverse interests in local communities, and they assist in the development of committee recommendations that address public land management issues. Advisory councils are critical in assisting the BLM in continuing to be a good neighbor in the communities that the agency serves.
Planned agenda items for the March 20 DAC meeting include information regarding the Notice of Intent for the California Desert Conservation Area Plan and updates from council members and the BLM California Desert District Manager.
The final agenda for the March 20 DAC meeting will be posted on the BLM website at: https://www.blm.gov/site-page/get-involved-rac-near-you-california-california-desert-district.
Written public comments to the DAC may be filed in advance of the March 20 DAC meeting and should be addressed to the Desert Advisory Council, c/o Bureau of Land Management, External Affairs, 22835 Calle San Juan de Los Lagos, Moreno Valley, CA 92553. Written comments also are accepted at the time of the meeting and, if copies are provided to the recorder, will be incorporated into the minutes.
