Monty # 5 (1991 WB Gen 1 LS with auto tran, sunroof, no rust, located in Boston) is off the road with white plumes of vapor-laden exhaust (think "Mauna Kea erupt.ion) Starts fine, idles smoothe but nsounds like an old-time steam engine, everything else is fine. The engine in this rig is engine #2, a rebuild bought from Kar King in Ontario CA about 30K miles ago. My bad. I suspect a cracked block or at least a major issue with the passenger side cylinder head. There are no replacement (eg, drop-in replacement 6G72) engines anywhere aroiund here.

I have no time to deal with this, so I have two options:

1) Does anybody have a running engine they can sell me cheap and ship up here? I can probably get a local shop to swap it in for about 10 hours of labor (I have no lift myself).
2) Make me an offer for the vehicle.

Weep weep. Great car, but it can't just sit here half dead.

In unrelated news, I am totally opposed to Facebook so I do not and never will have an account that will let me check the FB group that Ray (OffRoader) told me exists.
Also, is Fast Eddy still above ground? The last post of his that I see is from a few years back. I hope so.

Fast Eddy is still above ground and on FB. I'm one of the few that still visit here, the old house, and John finally let me be a moderator. The breached headgasket is much more likely than a cracked block, in my opinion, due to the blind pockets that the headbolts go into. Why not do the repairs yourself?

I don't have a good place to work or the proper tools, so I'm looking at a disaster (although I am tempted.) I've got coolant in the oil, but no oil in the coolant. Among other things I am not confident in my ability to diagnose the problem, which is why I figure an engine swap might be a more conservative idea. On another front, I can't be the only person with a Montero who despises and distrusts FB..
