Hey guys, I recently bought a 1987 Dodge raider. I have rebuilt the engine and redone some things but I am looking into accessories now except I can't seem to find a bumper. Any ideas or will I have to build my own? I'm new to this board. If I'm posting in the wrong place, please correct me. Once I complete the project I will post a full article with pictures.

It's not broken it just needs some work.

You'll need to go custom, I may build a few in the not so distant future. They'll probably be aboot $800 shipped or so, real short run though. E-mail me at Toastyfab@gmail.com and i'll keep you in mind if you want dibs.

Looks nice, if I look into it in the near future do you think you could make room for a winch mount on your bumper design?

Hey Toasty.... I read somewhere that you did one of those bumpers for a hydraulic winch? How does the winch sit in there? I think I read that the winch actually sits between the frame rails, so would it in effect sit below the bumper as noted in the photo? You know, I used to have a similar winch bumper for my old toyota, and on top of the bumper on either sides of where the winch was, I had a lockable hinged top where I could stow all my snatch blocks, D hooks, and straps. It was very handy to have that right there at the winch. What are the possibilities? Also would it be possible to have the winch on a couple of receiver hitches so it could be moved from the front to the back of the vehicle as needed? Any idea on cost on those types of modifications. I really like the simple lines of your bumper, with minor modificaitons..... and I have this "spare" 12K milemarker winch laying around.

Don made one for a Hydraulic winch, I can post a pic of my friend's truck with Don's bumper. It's actually in my garage right now getting a T-Case swap. As for receiver style winch mount, that's not hard but it's not as practical as it sounds. A winch with 100' of cable and a plate under it is quite heavy and chances are if you get stuck offroad you might not be in the best position to mount up your winch plus making the approach and departure angle worse. A relocatable winch would be nice because you can take it off when not in use and move it to either end of the truck but the cons far out weigh any advantages in my opinion.

Actually, I have a milemarker hydraulic winch at my mining claim and it is on a removable (repositionable) plate and although it it rather heavy, it isn't really that hard to move around (and I am moving it on a bouldery, uneven surface). Replacing the steel cable with synthetic takes a bunch of weight off of it. Also in my situation, I would anticipate ahead of time whether I would need it in the front or the back, BEFORE I got in the difficult situation, as that most likely would be helpful for moving it around. The set up I have is from Winches Plus- check it out- the one I have comes with about 20' of hose... it is pretty cool:

I like a man not afraid of a little work! Makes much more sense for your application as a working winch.
