I've pulled the transmission and t-case from my '87 Montero, and they go into the rebuild shop tomorrow. During the disassembly, I discovered that Mitsubishi put not one, but 2 shift boots in the 5-speed Montero: the one you see, and another (much thicker) one underneath. Whoever owned the truck before me replaced a clutch along the line, and managed to mangle that secondary boot. I want to replace it, but a search of several online Mitsubishi parts houses comes up empty. There is no part number stamped on it, either, so I can't go by that.
Mitsubishi calls it a "shifter seal", but that doesn't show up in any searches. I managed to download a 1989 Chrysler Raider parts list, and they give it a part number "MB180 156". My local Chrysler dealer says they can no longer get Raider parts, so here I sit. (I used to have a Mitsy dealer close to me, but they've been gone a few years now. The closest one is 80 miles away, and naturally I'd prefer an online source.)
I've checked the local junkyards; no happiness there, either.
Anyone have a lead on this?

ADD?
Do you have a Mitsubishi parts catalog? If I had a part number I'd be ahead of the game.

Download the 1989 Parts Manual. On page 21M-130 / 21M-4000, it shows two gaskets P/N MD704190. The parts manual has the boot listed as P/N MD703619. The diagram also shows what may be another un-numbered part that is included with the shift lever assembly.

Mark, where did you d/l the parts manual? After much Googling, the only one I was able to find is the 1989 Raider parts manual at Mitsubishilinks, and of course the numbers are different.

You can sometimes hunt part numbers using:

I purchased a 1989 Dodge Import Parts Manual around 2000. I pulled out all the "Dodge Raider" pages and scanned them around 2001. I sent it out to some folks and it eventually ended up on mitsishilinks.
I found those part numbers in section 21M (Manual Transmission). The PDF document has it on page 292 and 293.

Mark - Didn't know who to thank for the upload!
The part you indicated is not the correct one. The part I need is shown on pg. 304 of the PDF (page 21M-160), and is #5 on the illustration. The part # on the next page is given as MB180 156, but that number doesn't show up in the searches I've done on several Mitsubishi parts sites.
Did Chrysler Corp. use the standard Mitsy part numbers, or is MB180 156 their number?

Dodge used the Mitsubishi part numbers.
You may try searching some Australian, England, French or German sites. I've had reasonable luck with finding some parts overseas. Since it's a small part you are looking for, postage shouldn't be a problem. Now the wait time, if it travels by ship, can be weeks.
