Getting the Wheeling Fever
Thanks Richard, I like the way you dive into modifications and make it look a lot easier than it really is. That inspires me to keep going deeper with my own plans.

I drove around 23 hrs straight going to pick up a '89 V6 Raider w/ extra rolling frame and drive train around Austin TX a couple of weeks ago, but things didn't work out and I came home empty handed.

I've currently got my eyes on a '89 SWB Raider ($500) with the 3.0 V6 and a '96 LWB Montero ($400) w/ lockers front and rear and the 3.5 V6. The '89 is in NM and the guy is supposed to make arrangements with me to pick it up this weekend. It's about a 9hr drive for me one way, hope it doesn't fall through also. The '96 is mine, I just have to figure out how to get it to Kansas. It's currently down by Brownsville TX and that is a mighty long trip. I may have to take a week off this summer and see if I can't get it picked up.

I wish I could find stuff closer but just haven't had any luck up to this point. But oh well, it's like my grandpa told me "Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do!" and "You don't have to like it but that doesn't mean you don't have to do it!".

I ALSO want to THANK ChadZ for helping me out getting the "Installing LED Lights in a Ground Switched Circuit" PDF reduced in size, so it can be posted for everyone to critique.

I really appreciate it guys,
LLT

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Haven’t posted for a while so thought I’d check in.

Been busy with work and another one of the boys projects. He bought a 74 K10 short wheelbase step side and it’s gonna be a great truck when it’s done. Notice I said “when it’s done”, I just hope we get it completed before he gets done with high school, that gives us 3 years.

Took HAGAR out for a run last Saturday for better than 8hrs and he conquered it all with ease. Outdoor temperature was in the high 80’s with no problems going 25-35 all day. Even found a fair amount of mud for him to wallow in like a little piggy and he pushed right through.

Hope everyone is doing well during this trying time.

Stay healthy and happy,
LTUX

Wow, don't know when I last posted. Been a while. Looking to get back into it.

What is your wife's budget for a turbo swap? I have all the parts and then some. If you search OLD posts from early-mid 2000s you find a bunch from me. My rig from then isn't road worthy any more. I would love for my stash to go to someone who can put new life into them and another rig. LMK if you are interested.

Ride On,

Well let's see, I've done a lot of things since my last post but none of them have been on HAGAR.

-Been traveling solid since all this COVID stuff started.

-Working with my youngest sons on his new project (76 K10 stepside with 350 V8, 350 turbo tranny, 4x4 with 4" off suppension and 4" of body lift) when I am at home

-Bought a 96 montero sport for the axles (rear has air locker) but springs are coil and HAGAR if leaf, gonna have to do some mods.

-Bought chevy 4.3 V6 with NV3500 tranny and NP272 transfercase.

-All the work hours provided me with funds to purchase a 10k car lift for my shop.

Haven't really gotten anything done with HAGAR, but am getting a lot of the pieces in place to hopefully make things smoother when I do. I need to look through the "thread" library and learn more about the GEN2 axle swap and installing the 4.3 V6 w/ tranny and t-case in to HAGAR. He should be a brute when I'm done.

Hope everyone is staying safe and doing well during all these trying times.

MontyMcV,

I don't know what's going on, I never received a notice that you left a message.

Don't know what her budget is, but bet She would be more open to spending the money on HELGA (her vehicle). It has an automatic and "it doesn't run as fast as the 5-speeds" is the only thing she complains about.Bet it would pep things right up for her. I have the other GEN1 (LUCKY EDDIE) that I would love to do more with if she's not interested.

How much were you thinking on the turbo swap? I am definitely interested. I tried to PM you but it said your PM was all filled up.

Feel free to send an email to me at TUXEDORANCH@PIXIUS.NET

I would really appreciate it.

Thanks,

LTUX

Switch to the later V6 lock-up trans, use you 4-cyl auto bellhousing, and the auto will walk a 5-speed.

Russell,

You seem to always have the answers I need and I really appreciate the input.

So I can use the "96 3.5 L V6 Transmission I have behind the 4cyl bell housing in HELGA and it will make her pep up and run like she should? Does it require any mods (shifter location, driveshaft lengths, etc...)?

II'm still really interested in the turbo setup from MontyMcV to use on Lucky Eddie. But I can't seem to contact him, any idea's how to accomplish this?

For some reason I'm not getting a notification of posts by email anymore, How do I fix this?

Answers to any or all of these are much appreciated.

THANKS,
LTUX

Some of the guys used the 90 & 91 transmissions. I'm unaware of Gen 2 part usage.
