Been looking on a few parts websites and flea bay.

Looking for a rear wheel bearing and seal kit. Only one i had come up on flea bay was for the Delica.. Bearing, seal, the press on collar and snap ring. But dont get a definite, this is for the Montero.

Would like it to be Timken, but any good brand will work.

Anyone done this lately and got a place to get them ? But only in the U.S.

William Laakonnen, on my Facebook feed, has recently had the rear wheel bearings replaced. There is a special tool needed, also, to remove the backing plate.

Timken part number 30208

So it is a Tapered Roller... wonder how preload is set ?
Looked it up and thats a big ol bearing, if it wasnt for the seal i may just clean and grease it.

Special tool for the backing plate ? Flathead screwdriver and hammer ? Haha

Parts diagram shows 2 different types of bearing retention, one as normal press collar, the other seems to be a thread on like that of the fronts.. guess ill find out once in it.

I've attached a schematic of the rear axle half and bearing parts.

Good for review.

I guess is that this would end up with a score of "backing plate" 1 and "flathead screwdriver" 0.
