Are All 2.6's interchangeable? #1106319 06/08/21 07:03 AM

Need a Spot
Hi All,

I found a 2.6l turbo from a Starion, I guess. Will it bolt on to the Raider's automatic transmission? Or is it going to lead me down a rabbit hole?
Are the turbo 2.6's more trouble than they're worth or do they hold up well?
Thanks for any feedback
Shawn

So many rabbit holes to go down. Some guys have good luck with the G54T. My Max, with the entire Starion conversion, was a rolling project when I purchased it.

The expression "Dollars for Donuts" from Crocodile Dundee fits here. If you really, really want to turbo your Raider, you are far ahead to get the truck 4g64 (2.4L) block, add the car 4g63T head and go forth on your merry way to hundreds of HP.

Read through the sticky post, The Turbo Bible, at the top of the feed. ALL your questions are there, though pics may be missing.

Thank you for pointing me to that sticky
Wow, two minutes into it and I'm a big fan of what I have.
I have spent a lot of time studying variations and trying stuff on my Jeeps, some good some bad. I think I'll just leave this one stock and enjoy it as is.

To me the turbo swap is the best thing that can be done to a 4cyl Gen 1, I swapped mine back in winter of 1988, these shots taken spring of '89.

I find an essentially stock engine the best way to go. The transmission benefits from a V6 torque converter to utilize the low end torque of the turbo engine.
