Just installed front and rear dif breathers, as you can see in this photo:

But I noticed my axle has this little nubbin, do you need to breathe this thing as well? I have not seen it on other photos of monteros. What is it?

And another question, can I breathe my transmission without dropping it? If so, whats the best way to get to it? Also, what about my transfer case?
Ive searched around and cant find exact answers to this so maybe you can help me out.

Interested in what Dana axle you have? Is that a 44 from a Wagoneer?

Welcome to The Wire and your first post!

Auto-trans has a small vent tube on the top, about mid-way along the length. I believe 1/8" hose would work. The T-case or manual trans...can't think of any vent.

I dont know where the dana 44 came from, but i took a peek under a willy's and it appeared to have the exact same dana axle.
