To the Loyal Followers of 4x4Wire:
I regret the time has come to pull the plug on the site. Advertising dollars are non-existent and the operating cost exceed what I can continue.
I have completed a back-up of the site and will seek future opportunities.
If you have any thing you want to save, I expect the site will be operational for the remainder of the month of July.
Thank-you for your years of support. A lot of memories and friends have been made over the years.
There remain many 4x4 trails to explore.
I can be reached via email at jstewart@mac.com
I hope 4x4Wire will continue on Facebook...
Hope to see some on the trail.....

Sad times and thank for all you have provided us over the decades. Over my years here I have found some of the best and smartest people from all points of the country.
There are almost no options anywhere near this site for the accurate diverse knowledge base which I have yet to find ANY alternative to. Thank you from one who admires and respects what you gave us. THIS WORLD SUCKS and will not be getting better I never thought I would be glad to be getting old.

John, Have you made a real attempt at breaking into the FB crowd. I see some posts from back in 2013 on environmental and trail related but the full broad scan as your site was, obviously trimmed as needed would be nice if it could get going. Reaching out to the AZ and OG would be where to start in my mind. Might be able to recover some of the glory you provided us.
I personally hate the place, FB that is, went there a few yeas back since Shaun was selling a Pajero roller. I made 2 or 3 posts on here as well as FB but took much of the project to Expo since there was some followership there. The Old Guard page on FB has dwindled away, the general people on FB are immature know it all Ex-spurts but can be moderated out.
It would nice to see the quality of your leadership continue.

Yes, John.
So many years to finally become a moderator and not be able to catch Ray with numbers of posts. I echo thanks that Charlie expresses. So many friends, acquaintances, and brethren here.
Cheerio, Russell.

Getting the Wheeling Fever

i've enjoyed the hell out of this place, and i will sorely miss having access to the wealth of information preserved here. glad to have a 4x4 Wire sticker on my rig. totally understand the decision - i've watched a number of bulletin boards go dark due to migration to other media, which just isn't well suited for the kind of knowledge sharing and archiving.
gratitude to the founders, moderators and gurus.

Damn. It's like Fast Eddy will truly be gone now. John, no one else pulled a community together like your 4x4Wire. Thank you.

First Vmag now 4x4wire. I'll certainly miss the folks here. The folks here had a wealth of information, knowledge and expertise to share. I learned a lot along the way. While owning a Mitsubishi brought folks to the site, it was the character of the people here that was most important.
Question - Any change of getting the Mitsubishi Archives replicated over to "www.archive.org"? This would allow a portion of the site to remain as a reference.

This sucks. Worst news in months. Damn the black hole of information known as Facebook. Thanks for all the good times.

John...I've had some questions elsewhere, volunteers to take over site hosting. These are not my wheelhouse, but I've directed the FB-enabled to seek you out.

While owning a Mitsubishi brought folks to the site, it was the character of the people here that was most important. The part that I hate the most on Farcebook, I kind of know what I am talking about but the little ExSpurts over there who say I know nothing. I usually get support for some of the other able minded souls, but at this point, If I do not recognize who is asking, I just move on. Too many 18yo who saw something on YT so know they know all. I am sure I miss allot of valid question from those that are worthy of helping. Heck last month one of my Colt's turned 50, And I have been driving it 48 years. It isn't my oldest one.
