Those with a steep hill and industrial kind shots are on a BW film. I got it developed, now stand by for prints <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" /> I hope to get them done tomorrow.

And a word about quality -- these scans actually suck big time, but each frame on the original film holds about of 11Mpix equvalent of information...
As soon as I come back from Yosemete I'm going to scan them on a real scanner and make a 70Mb TIFFs available for you guys <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="images/icons/wink.gif" />

woohooo! I love you dude <img border="0" alt="[Hillbilly]" title="" src="graemlins/notooth.gif" /> .

HERE is a tip: when developing, ask them to put it on a CD. Costs a couple bucks (I'll pay ya back, no big deal) but makes nice scans and is faster.

Guys,

I'm trying to be serious here, digital is just too expensive -- 1500 for camera body + 500 for essencial accesories is way too much for having instant results with a same quality that I'm getting with my film camera now, isn't it? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="images/icons/wink.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[Hillbilly]" title="" src="graemlins/notooth.gif" />

Sony P-31, found on ebay for 150 bucks.

1500+ accessories, eh? pfft.

Want good quality? Fuji finepix 3800 - 300 bucks, 6x optical, 3x digital.

i'm going to get one sometime soon, not sure if i should go with the cheaper one or the pricier one.. for my purposes the P31 will do (i've had it for a week), it ain't perfect - but should be enough.

Those pixs look great guys !!! I know exactly where you were at... At the end of that road, there should have been a gate that was closed. Right after the gate is a stream crossing and that goes up to the top of Mt.Alamo and that's where Jeep Miller Trail ends/begins. There's a ton of more trails that I still wanna take you guys on..hopefully soon.

As for the digital stuff...a 35mm frame, even such as Agfa fine grain film, has no more then almost 8mp worth of information on it..remember that the grain of the film is where it's at.. Standard consumer 35mm film is actually under 5mp worth of info.

You can scan that slide or negative at whatever resolution you want, and produce whatever size TIFF image you want, but you can't get something for nothing, and if the detail is not there in the negative, then it's just a waste after that..

You can scan a picture in 1200dpi on a flatbed, or at 3000dpi on a rotary-drum unit but there'll be no more detail in that pic, then the other.

For me, 5mp is good enough now as it's almost dead on with a 35mm frame, will output raw 40mb TIFF images (that's slow) or 9mb jpg images in the lowest compression mode...alone with my 1gb Microdrive and my 1gb flash, I'm all set.

Another thing about film is we're still using harmful chems that's not nice to the enviroment. Silver, etc.. all have to be handle carefully..

If I was into "professional" photography, I'd go with the Kodak Pro DCS 14n which is a 14mp camera <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="images/icons/shocked.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="images/icons/shocked.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="images/icons/shocked.gif" /> and has a 35mm CMOS sensor alone!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="images/icons/shocked.gif" /> ...all for the low cost of under $17,000 !!

Anywho..go DIGITAL !!!

I'm seeing it for under $5K at reputable stores. Unfortunately for all the hype and wait that camera has gone through everything I've heard about it is kinda dissapointing. Read this for a good rundown: Pro14n.

But the 1:1 aspect ratio is groundbreaking. There's even a few others out there now with 1:1.

WOW !!! They've dropped it alot...I started looking at it back in Dec. when they were talking about that price back then... They sure have dropped it alot..

Also, Steve's site has not done an update of the latest Firmware (last was yesterday on the 12th.) but even the last version (5th.) fixed both the major ISO and white ballance issues that it had problems with...

Still, we'll see more and more consumer models in the 6-7 range, and soon in the 8 range...
