Do 1995 Montero's have "zerk fittings" on them? There will be a zerk fitting on all tie rods and ball joints in the newer car's have not seen them on my Monty.. http://www.my-gmc.com/Zerk-2.jpg

There are no zerks on the Monty. All mitsu parts are self lubricating though I occasionally spray mine with PAM.

HPI,

I'm sure there are copious numbers of zirk fittings under your 95. Have you looked? You could probably answer your question with a couple of minutes worth of inspection since nobody has answered it who has a 95.

Not sure which components have them but they are certainly there. I've got over a dozen on my 90.

Ray

There are not many zerk fittings on a 95 Montero, and these are found on the front suspension, steering and prop shafts. They are located as follows:

Rear of Lower Control Arm - Ball Joint (L & R)
Top of Upper Control Arm - Ball Joint (L & R)
Tie Rod (Outer) - Ball Joint (L & R)
Tie Rod (Inner) - Ball Joint (L & R)
Pitman Arm
Probably Idler Arm as well (not 100% sure)
Front Prop Shaft (Front & Rear U-Joint)
Rear Prop Shaft (Front & Rear U-Joint)

To do the front suspension, steering & front prop shaft, raise the front end & support securely on axle-stands. Remove both front wheels and skid plate, then all the fittings should be easy to get at. You will find you need to rotate the front prop shaft by hand to get to the fittings in the U-joints. Same applies to the rear prop shaft, but you will only need to lift one wheel off the ground - support the rear on an axle-stand for safety. There is no need to remove either of the rear wheels.
