False lead; I just got my parts in the mail today and have not performed the necessary tune-up. (This comming weekend).
I jacked the picture of the Sportage engine with the head taken off for visual reference from another site. Sorry. I will not perform this mechanical feat this time around. Not needed.
Thank you members; for providing all the useful/neccessary knowlege to perform this task. Your the best!!!

Wow, the only coils I have had to replace was my original two that blew up when I shot a spark plug out of the head (before I knew about using anti seeze on aluminum heads). I replaced the next set on a tune up, kept them for spares, replaced that set when I rebuilt my engine so I have another set of spares. I have never had one split on me.

Thanks for the heads up on the longevity of the coils; as I did not order any. I would have bought them if they were on the list provided at the begining of the thread... Are coils something that should be added to the spark plug changing list? Or is this just something you have to wait to find out after you have dissasembled everything? I want it to be easiest for the next mechanical novice. ![[Linked Image]](http://www.partstrain.com/images/product_images/thumbs/standard/siuf283.jpg)

The boots are special and only come with the coil. Standard makes them for KIA. The reason I know, I went the dealer to get one back when mine cracked and they pulled it off the shelf in a Standard box. I looked at the box, told them no thanks, not at your price. Walked a couple of doors down to my local auto parts store, and asked for them to see if they could get me the same part. They had them sitting on their shelf and were less than 1/2 the price the stealer wanted.

Thanks for the update. Might come in handy. Does it come with the resister, or just the rubber boot?

I went to change the spark plugs and discovered that the plastic connector on the ignition leads that plug into the coil packs had deteriated so much so, that when I went to unplug it, the plastic just crumpled into little pieces. So I pull the wires out of the coil packs so I can wrap some electrical tape around them and realise that I didn't take note of which colour goes where. Stupid! There are four wires: the two short wires are blue and white. The two long wires are blue and green. Which one goes to the two connections on the coil pack?
