rear window issues #570992

Anonymous OP

I have an 89 4runner and the rear window won't operate using the key entry in the back. It works from the switch on the main console. But, my license plate lights do work. I'm not too good with electrics so I was hoping for any suggestions or opinions. thanks!

Try something simple to start with.Get some elctronic contact cleaner and spray a heavy amount in thru the keyway.Put the key in and push in on it while turning the key in both direction. If that doesn't work, you may need to take the switch apart and clean it.My rear window switch broke over 3yrs ago.I bought an on-off-on switch and hid it underneath the plastic cover near the old switch. The switch only has 3 wires.Up-neutral-down.Good luck!
