I have brought up the issue of editing previous posts with PHIL recently, but allow me to reiterate my position.
I enjoy the experience here at 4x4wire and attempt to give back as much as I've taken from these pages. I know that's impossible, but I try. Much if not all of the tech I post, as well as many others, includes pictures VITAL to the description of what we're attempting to explain. I couldn't even imagine FrankR attempting to writeup an AW372L rebuild without pictures to document the journey and they are an integral part to explaining certain things to others. Unfortunately, the cyberworld is fickle and pictures don't remain long at many locations for one reason or another. I for one had to change ISPs this summer and lost all the info from my personal webpages in the process including all the pictures I've posted for tech over the years.
Now I would be happy to go back and repost pictures so all the dialogue makes sense, but because of new legislation here at 4x4wire I am now prevented from doing so and I don't intend to solicit the aid of a moderator to repost every picture in every tech thread I've ever posted. They have enough to do as it is.
What I'm concerned about is that this just happened without any discussion or warning. I never recall any dialogue concerning the issue although I know the Admin here reserves the right to make changes despite the popular opinion of its constituants. To me it seems like a change that was made in haste with poor thought devoted to the issue.
Unfortunately, because of the changes little of my old tech postings make coherent sense anymore and I am more likely not to post tech in the future because of the issue. I'd ask the admin here to reconsider their decision and consider what is to be gained as opposed to what is lost.
