If I need to change the knock sensor can I just pull the intake manifold to get at it or do I have to take anything else off?

If memory serves, I think there is a timing belt idler pulley that is pressed onto the water outlet on the top front of the Intake Manifold. That means you have to take the fan, shrouds, etc., and timing belt off before you can get the manifold off to get at the sensor. Make sure you replace the wire that runs from the sensor up around the edge of the manifold to the rest of the wiring harness -- I didn't, and had to open it up a second time to do it right. Good Luck!

Can I reuse the intake gaskets that are already there? I have a complete gasket set here but I want to save most of it till the summer.

I would say *better safe then sorry*

If your gonna tear it down, you might as well just replace the gasket. And if you are plannin' on doing it all this sumer, then I don't think it will hurt replaceing it now anyways.

Besides the obvious, how can you check to see if your knock sensor is bad? I've recently been running 93 octane to keep the pinging to a minimum, but it still does it on occasion. If it's good, what else could be the culprit?
