Axe,
The heater/AC blower motor in my 1998 Sportage stopped working all together.
I've been working through the repair manual, but I need to get the Electrical Systems Repair manual section on this.
I think it has a short or a blown internal fuse to the motor. I'm hoping it's a blown internal fuse, but at the same time i'm not because you have to completely remove the motor to check the fuse and to do this you have to discharge the AC system and then have it recharged.
Crap either way. Anyway any help on the Electronic Systems Repair Manual would be nice.
Thanks, Logansportage

I dropped the fan motor with its mount out of the HVAC uit housing without having to recover the A/C charge. Loosen the screws (as I remember - it's been a year or longer) and it drops right out. Did i do it wrong??

That's correct. I just pulled one out of the Sportage I'm parting out 15 minutes ago. You just remove the screws and disconnect the wiring and it falls out. Took about 2 minutes. If you need the motor, let me know. Everet

Everet,
You're talking about the full motor and not just the resister correct?
Just fixed the problem!!! Was just like Everet said. Pulled the screws and dropped the motor in under 15 minutes.
The blower motor is positioned just under the fan fins which happens to be a cylindrical type fan that creates a bowl and it is positioned directly below the cold air intake at the base of the window. This means it is in direct contact with the outside world. When I pulled it out the fan bowl was chuck full of leaves and small twigs. (I have trees that line my drive so it is no wonder they are there) When I got the motor out of the housing the bottom was rusted and the insides were packed full of leaves.
My problem was a seized bearing due to rust and leaves being packed in there. Cleaned it out and added some grease to the bearing.
Now Im good to go!!! Man I love this form!!! I've spent all summer long with no AC because of a seized bearing that took 1 hour start to finish to fix. The bonus is that since I added grease to the bearing it turns much faster and cools everything down better inside.
This is the reason this form is here!!! Keep up the great work guys!!!
Oh, Everett and Axe here are a couple of cold ones for you guys.
