I can't stand those unibody cars that masquerade as trucks.

Exactly why I quit looking at cherokees and bought my rodeo. Plus its nearly impossible to find a 5 speed cherokee. I would even take a c-channel frame over a unibody.

I personally dont like troopers. Too boxy for my taste but thats just my personal preference. The 2nd gens are a litte better to me (I looked for one of those too before getting my rodeo).

As far as rust in the frame. Mine started life in wisconsin and has very minimal rust on the frame. Unibodies rust too. Ask anyone that lives in Ontario. Cars older then 5 yrs old are a rare site on the road because the salted roads rust them quick.

I say if you like the truck and its in your price range then buy it.

Not to mention, Ahem, That they are cheaper to insure than almost any newer vehicle and Get great gas mileage for how old they are. If you dont lug them around, they are a mid torque RPM motor. I take mine to 3500 and shift so the RPM's still say in the torque area ( about 2250 roughly). I havent gotten any thing lower than 20 MPG and higher than 25 MPG. If you want good gas mileage, cheap(er) insureance I would Look into it. And they are not as "Top Heavy" and everyone who has ever driven one and Disliked it. BTW I bought mine in a Junk Yard 6 years ago for 400.00 with No rust, crap tires, and Vacuum + Electrical Problem's. The electrical Im still working on now and again. Once you get to know how they function and how things go they get alot easier to work on and trouble shoot. My opinion, Get it, It'll be paid for. and they can get addicting. Let everyone else drool and get butt hurt when you fill up once to 2 times and month. OK maybe 3 at the most HAHA

Let's see...boxed frame, strong rear end, quality electrics..it's a true truck (even if it's not live axle), unlike just about anything you buy today. I can't stand those unibody cars that masquerade as trucks.

actually im not a fan of boxed frames, they gennerally rust out alot faster due to the muck getting trapped inside of them.

Hehe ... can't believe anyone could be looking at a Cheerokee vs Trooper, and say Trooper was boxy. Cheerokees are just as boxy and less roomy.

Me, I dislike low down car seating in Cherokees and Rodeos. I prefer Trooper upright truck seating.

Cool RS with sandtracks
