Stock was 4.56 in most 89 Troopers. The exception was the ones with the wide tire option, 31s. Those came with 4.77s stock.

I think you're thinking of the '89 Trooper RS (the rare 2-dr, short wheelbase version). IIRC, its common believe these all came with 4.77s (regardess of rim style or option codes).

Not all RS's came with the wide tire option. Most did, some didnt.

Talking about US trucks only:

All first generation RS Troopers ('88 & '89) came with 4.77's, most but not all were limited slip, and all had the big tire/wheel package.

The second generation Troopers ('93 - '95) all were
4.56's, and all were limited slip.
The second generations did not have 4.77's as an option.

92 ---97 TROOPERS ALL CAME WITH 4.56 GEARS

4.77 WERE NOT AN OPTION,\IN ANY 92-97 UX

LIMITED SLIP WAS NOT USED IN ALL VEH. NO RHYME OR REASON WHICH DID OR WHICH DIDNT HAVE THE LSD ,ONLY SURE WAY IS TO CHECK THE DATA PLATE

NO 92-97 TROOPER RS, S XS OR LS EVERY CAME WITH THE BIG TIRE PACKAGE , ALL CAME WITH THE 245 X 70 R16 ,JERRY (U.S. VERSIONS)
