Hello all Been a while since I've been here so I decided to come back and try my luck again. And I did not post this on the for sale section as last time the post was there for over 5 months and not a single VIEW or reply. I still say the For Sale/Wanted section should be IN the dedicated Brand forum and not bunched up together all in one. But thats just me... Anyhow... I am Looking for some 8" ring and pinion 4:22 gear sets from EITHER a REAR Diff of a 2.6 or a front Diff of a V6, Montero, Raider or 4x4 M-Max. Must be in good shape. Please post or e-mail me with what you have, condition and price you want for them. I am in California so you must be willing to ship. Thanks again for the opportunity. But would not those be a 9" rear and an inverted front? He needs gears from a pickup.

Hello Angelo
Bud I am afraid that these will NOT work in my application as I believe the newer model Monteros (92-on) have a different diff size and set-up than the earlier model 85-90. thats why I am looking for some from either a 2.6L or a 3.0L
But if anyone else here can shine some info on this I will definitely consider them.
Thanks Oscar

My 85 4wd pu was a 3.91. I think gen2 pickups 87?-91? may have been 4.22's, but did not have the 2.6. Are you sure these exist? If I had a set of 2.85 tcase gears, I might want a set on my 2.6T 87 2dr OR the 89 4dr after it gets the turbo.

Monteros of that generation have 4.62 gears. Well I pulled a set a LONG time ago from a Montero and they were the 4:22's NOW I did not check the engine platre to see if that was the OEM gears or not so it could have been installed afterwards. So possibly a more true choice will be the smaller Raider. I know these are interchangeable so it will be hit or miss to see who has them. But as long as they came from this generating trucks I will be good. The 2.4L Pick-ups D-50/M Max's ONLY came with the 3:90's except for the 4x4 models that came with the V6 and those came with the 4:22's CORRECT. Any help in locating these 8" 4:22 gear set will be appreciated. Oscar

Oscar,
At the Pick-n-Pull in Roseville, NE of Sacramento, there are 3 4x4 Mistu pickups between 88 and 91, all 4 cylinder models. On Craigslist Stockton and Sacramento, there are currently 2 trucks of that age, one in Sonora for $300 and another in Chico for $500.
If you need some 4.625 (after all) gear sets, I have plenty of those around, same with the local yards.

I have a full set of 4.22s here, they are the smaller front set and an 8" rear set. These are out of a 4 cyl pickup, I do not recall what year. Both sets are going in cars.

I have an 85 monty 2.6 manual, and a 3.0 auto, that I am parting out, but I don't know what gears they have. I never drove the 2.6, but I have the 3.0 and runs good. How would I find out the size and gear ratio...
